A Guide to Attending a Funeral Service at Bramcote Crematorium

When attending a funeral service at Bramcote Crematorium, it’s essential to know what to expect and how to navigate the facilities. As a funeral director in Long Eaton, I understand the importance of making this experience as smooth as possible. This guide will help you make the most of your visit to this crematorium where we can remember and celebrate the lives of our loved ones.

Finding the Right Chapel

Bramcote Crematorium is found on Coventry Lane to the north west of Bramcote village and has two beautifully appointed chapels: the larger Serenity Chapel to the left of the building and the Reflection Chapel at the front towards the right. Each chapel provides a serene and peaceful setting for funeral services. To determine which chapel the service will be held in, check the service details provided by the funeral director, the family or check the onsite lists near each chapel. If you’re uncertain, the staff at the crematorium will be more than willing to assist you in finding the right location.

Toilets and Waiting Areas

During your visit to Bramcote Crematorium, you may need access to restrooms or a quiet place to gather your thoughts before or after the service. Toilets are available within the crematorium grounds close to the chapels, and they are well-maintained to ensure your comfort. Additionally, there are designated waiting areas where you can gather with other attendees before the service begins. These areas are designed to offer solace and support in a quiet and contemplative atmosphere.

Parking on Site

Parking at Bramcote Crematorium is well-organised to accommodate visitors. There is ample parking available on-site, making it convenient for everyone attending the funeral service. Please arrive early to ensure you find a suitable parking spot. It’s essential to follow the parking guidelines to ensure a smooth flow of traffic, being careful to follow signs and avoid the funeral car only routes. It’s advisable to arrive a bit early to ensure you have enough time to find parking and make your way to the chapel.

Honouring the Occasion

A funeral service at Bramcote Crematorium is a time to pay your respects and celebrate the life of the departed. It’s a modern setting that prioritises the dignity and comfort of all attendees. As a modern funeral director at Trust Funerals in Long Eaton, I would encourage you to embrace the occasion as a genuine celebration of life, to cherish the memories and legacy of your loved one.

Advice for Attending

  • Arrive Early: Arriving at least 15-20 minutes before the scheduled service time allows you to find parking, settle in the waiting area, and pay your respects without feeling rushed.
  • Respectful Attire: Dress in smart, formal and respectful attire. Most attendees opt for black or dark-coloured clothing as a sign of respect for the deceased but some modern funerals may have a brighter coloured or a more casual clothing theme.
  • Silence Your Phone: Before entering the chapel, remember to silence your mobile phone to avoid disruptions during the service.
  • Offer Condolences: When you meet with the grieving family, offer your condolences and support. If it’s hard to start a conversation, a simple, “I’m sorry for your loss” can provide comfort during this difficult time.
  • Participate in the Service: Be attentive during the service. Follow any instructions provided by the celebrant or officiant. This includes standing, sitting, or participating in any rituals or prayers if requested.
  • Exit Quietly: After the service concludes, exit the chapel quietly and respectfully. This allows the next group of attendees to pay their respects without disturbance.
  • Reception Afterwards: After the service, there may be a reception or gathering which is sometimes called a Wake where you can offer your condolences and share memories with others. Attend if you feel comfortable, as it can provide solace and crucial support to the grieving family. There may be refreshments available at the reception.

Supportive Staff

The staff at Bramcote Crematorium are compassionate and experienced in dealing with the emotions surrounding funerals. They are there to support you and your family throughout the service. Whether you need assistance with seating arrangements, music, or any other aspect of the service, you can rely on their professionalism and empathy.

In conclusion, attending a funeral service at Bramcote Crematorium should be a moment of reflection, remembrance, and support. With its modern facilities, accessible amenities, and the presence of caring funeral directors, Bramcote Crematorium is well-equipped to provide a dignified and respectful environment for celebrating the life of your loved one. As a funeral director at Trust Funerals in Long Eaton, it’s my sincere hope that this article helps make the experience as seamless as possible for all attendees, allowing you to focus on paying your respects and finding comfort in the company of friends and family.

Our New Funeral Home Brings Modern Choices to Long Eaton

Trust Funerals has been providing modern style funeral arrangements to the Derby and Nottingham area since 2015, proving time and time again that a high-quality funeral need not be expensive.

Up until now we have been principally based online, but we are delighted to announce that we have now moved into our spacious new funeral home in the heart of Long Eaton on Derby Road. We are fully operational and already serving the residents of our new local community.

During this time we have received more than 120 five-star reviews from satisfied clients which tell the story of their experiences with us. You can check out some of these reviews on Google, Facebook and Trustpilot.

Our website is still currently orientated towards the Derby area, and is therefore due for some major revisions to reflect our new location, but you can find out more about us generally by navigating directly onto it from here using this link: the Trust Funerals Homepage. If it’s natural burial at Dale Hill (Derby) or Tithe Green (Nottingham) that you’re interested in, then click here, or to find out more about direct cremation take a look at the Cremation Only page. Alternatively, stay right here though to find out about our brand new funeral package specially for Erewash and Broxtowe residents.

What is ‘The Erewash Funeral’?

The Erewash Funeral is similar to The Nottingham Funeral and is available to all residents in the Erewash and Broxtowe Council area at the same price of £1,900 all-inclusive.

This package is a modern style celebration of life funeral at a day and time of your choosing in Bramcote Crematorium or Trent Valley Crematorium

The details of what is included in the package are as follows:

  1. Collection of the deceased from a hospital, another funeral directors premises or any other local mortuary
  2. Care of your loved one until the day of the funeral at our premises in Long Eaton
  3. A fabric shroud for the deceased
  4. A real oak veneered coffin locally handmade to order
  5. All necessary funeral arrangements which can be discussed either at our premises or we would visit you at your home
  6. Provision of our modern Volvo Plug-In Electric hybrid hearse alternative, meeting all mourners at the crematorium or our premises
  7. Transport of floral tributes from our premises to the crematorium to be displayed as requested
  8. Options available to upgrade this funeral package at additional cost

Alternatively, a truly modern choice at no extra cost would be the funeral service taking place at our own chapel in our Long Eaton premises.  We provide free use of our full kitchen facilities afterwards for a reception or wake without the need for travelling to another location. This choice is very suitable for a celebratory positively focused funeral service, and with a reception following also included, it represents exceptional good value.

You can find out more about The Erewash Funeral package by speaking to either Simon or Jill on 0115 727 7222

Introducing A Greater Choice Of Funeral Directors In Matlock

Matlock town and surrounding area already has a premium traditional funeral director which has been serving it’s community almost exclusively for decades. However, this situation is now changing as a different Matlock-based family owned funeral director, previously only available online, will shortly open their new premises in the very heart of Matlock town centre.

Trust Funerals is owned and run by the Iredale family who have lived in or close to Matlock for almost 15 years.  Until now, since 2015 we have mainly focused on Derby as our core area, as well as working throughout Derbyshire and beyond. During this time we have built up an enviable reputation for quality and value with more than 100 all 5-star reviews and counting. Those reviews show the highest standards of service and care you can expect from us.

In progressing from being an online funeral company to also having our own premises in central Matlock, we can now bring our fresh modern approach to funerals to our own local community. This provides Matlock with a more varied choice which we feel can surely only be a good thing for the town.

So, what is it that’s different about Trust Funerals?

Whilst many funeral directors focus entirely on offering traditional Victorian styled services, we also offer our very popular Contemporary themed Celebration Of Life funerals. In addition to being a thoroughly modern funeral director, we are also ethical and fair charging.

Since Trust Funerals began, we have always led the way with our clear and transparent prices, long before the Government finally intervened this year to force funeral companies to reveal their fees publicly. Hopefully this overdue intervention may bring to an end the long period of unchallenged widespread and routine overcharging that many established and respected funeral businesses have been guilty of. Thankfully, these days you don’t need a big budget to get high quality services.

Although our website still has an emphasis on the Derby area, you can find out much more about us by clicking the link which will take you to our Home page from which you can navigate around our site.  Our all-inclusive funeral packages include the fees for Markeaton Crematorium but they can very easily be adapted to accommodate Chesterfield Crematorium at Brimington as well as Amber Valley Crematorium located just outside Swanwick.

Whether your preference is for traditional type funeral arrangements or looking for a more up-to-date alternative, we can always help. Anything mentioned on our website is already available to Matlock residents and you can use our new Matlock telephone number now which is 01629 337 222. We anticipate that Trust Funerals premises will open to the public before the end of 2021.

Surprisingly, despite research repeatedly showing that nowadays many families are looking to celebrate the life of their loved one, there are actually very few modern funeral directors in the UK. Matlock people now have that choice.

My husband died suddenly at home a few weeks ago, he wanted to be cremated without fuss. My daughter found Trust Cremations and after speaking to Simon, we knew this company was the one.. A husband and wife team, showing gentle kindness, compassion and understanding of the desolation and sadness facing bereaved human beings. Meeting them in person  when picking up my husbands clothes cemented the reasons for choosing them in the first place. Jill came and delivered Gary’s ashes back home. In our opinion there is no other company out there that can match the personal service we received. We would recommend them to everyone.

Our experience with Trust Funerals & cremations has been thoroughly first class. We can’t thank them enough for all their help and respect throughout our loss and the ongoing coroner’s investigation. Jill and Simon have been so supportive and informative about the whole process from collection to cremation and everything inbetween, keeping in touch at all times. My mother-in-law’s ashes and jewellery will be delivered directly to us today by Simon. We are so pleased to have chosen their funeral company and would highly recommend them. They’ve treated us like family, couldn’t wish for more.

Jill and Simon were fantastic! They provide you with the time and space to make your own decisions whilst helpfully guiding you through all the options.  I can’t recommend them enough! From the start of our enquiries to the day of the funeral when they were everything you would want a funeral directors to be (even holding an umbrella over the celebrant when the skies opened up)! We would also thoroughly recommend a natural burial, it was a much more personal type of funeral. You can rely on them for ordering exactly what you want – type of coffin, lovely bouquet, etc. Professional, discreet, patient, reassuring, A+++++!.

Following the recent passing of my mum, Jill at Trust Cremations made a process I knew nothing about easy, stress free and dignified.  I called her at 8.30pm and from there she handled everything.  Jill kept me informed about progress and returned my mums ashes personally along with a lovely bouquet of flowers. I highly recommend Jill and have already passed her details on to a couple of friends who ave been impressed by the service I received at a traumatic time when I was very vulnerable.

Thank you Jill.

From the initial telephone call I had with Simon, my mind was put at rest that my mum would be taken care of in a sensitive and dignified way.  Simon spent a lot of time speaking to me without rushing things explaining the process in a really thorough way.

When my mum passed, Jill handled the arrangements for me even down to arranging the appointment at the register office, when a problem occurred with my mums doctor.  Jill communicated with me all along and that took away the stress for me at such a sad time.  My mums ashes were delivered to me by Jill herself. Everything was arranged in a smooth, friendly and dignified and sensitive manner.  I would highly recommend Trust Funerals and cremations

We would highly recommend trust cremations. We primarily dealt with Jill, she was empathetic, courteous and made us feel assured that we were in good hands despite not meeting in person until after the event. We were treated with sensitivity and respect at all times and Jill kept us fully informative throughout. She has made a very difficult situation seem more bearable and we are most thankful.

Having had to use Trust funerals twice now in the last year I can’t praise Simon and Jill enough for their service.  We went from first funeral being packed out for my younger brother last year to just 4 siblings last week due to the difficult times at the moment.  Both times Simon and Jill have made our experience the best it could have been.  Their professionalism shone through and helped us through a very emotional time.

Thank you so so much for your help, empathy and understanding, it made my family and myself feel much comfort.

Fully recommend Trust Funerals.

Thank you again Simon and Jill

Funerals During Lockdown

Although currently lockdown rules look likely to remain in place for quite some time yet, the period of instability regarding funerals seems to now be over. Recently families have been booking funerals during lockdown, and paying the price for their selected funeral, with very little prospect of actually getting what they initially paid for. This is because by the time the funeral date arrived many aspects of the families requirements had been downgraded due to the almost constant changes and ever tightening restrictions.

It now seems very likely that we have reached a period of short-term stability and that the unpredictability issue, which has no doubt added considerably to the distress experienced by families already grappling with the tragic loss of life during this pandemic, has now passed.

It is now possible for the more ethical funeral directors to accept deposits from families without feeling like they are almost ‘mis-selling’, because confidence has returned and mourners can realistically expect to get the funeral they arrange, albeit though, it’s probably not what they would have ideally chosen.

This new and much needed stability means that Trust Funerals are now once again offering attended funerals during lockdown, although of course all of the Government’s and the crematorium’s own restrictions will still apply. Whether you are looking to organise a traditional formal funeral or a more contemporary styled Celebration Of Life service you can find full details of our all-inclusive funeral packages at our website or contacting us by phone, text, WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger

Although crematoria tend to interpret the rules differently, as a very general rule there are normally restrictions on the number of people attending with 10 mourners being about the average number you can expect. As few as 5 people is not uncommon whilst many other crematoriums allow as many as 15 to be present for funerals during lockdown. There is a very small number of crematoriums allowing higher numbers as well as a few at the end of the scale who have  completely prohibited any public attendance.

It is very commonplace to find restrictions on the carrying or touching of the coffin, and as a consequence of this potential health risk the option for the curtains to remain open at the end of the service has often been suspended. As you would expect, the requirement for responsible social distancing is generally strictly enforced and many Chapels have had the majority of seats removed or cordoned off. Shorter service times have become the norm, with 15 to 20 minutes maximum being common, which although unfortunate, is helping crematoriums up and down the country keep up with the unusually high demand for cremations during this crisis.

You should also expect to see crematorium staff at funeral services wearing disposable gloves, face masks and possibly other items of PPE in order to protect themselves in what is still fundamentally a risky social gathering, albeit a very important and necessary one with strict precautionary controls.

Some people are making the safer choice to have a virtual funeral where the service takes place as normal except there are no mourners physically present. This is because they are watching either a recorded video or live web streaming into their homes. This choice does depend very heavily on the reliability of necessary technology, which is not completely failsafe and some funeral directors have reported problems, so it is worth discussing this option with us before making the final decision.

We believe it is important that families organising attended funerals during lockdown make fully informed decisions with realistic expectations, because although funerals are taking place they are not in a form which many people would regard as a ‘proper’ funeral service. Consequently there are many families who after having made very difficult decisions to select who can or can’t attend, still plan to hold a full unrestricted memorial service at a later date.

If you are reading this and finding all of the above to be unsatisfactory then you may want to consider organising initially for only the cremation to take place as this should not be deferred unnecessarily. After receiving the ashes back (if requested) it would then be a case of waiting until such time as it is safe to organise the attended farewell gathering to give a loved one the send-off they deserve. This is usually a particularly low-cost alternative to a regular funeral and has become increasingly popular in the last few years; you can find out more about the direct cremation only option on the Trust Funerals website.

Making funeral decisions can be tough at any time and under the the present circumstances this is even more difficult. Talk to other family members and take some time to mull things over rather than feeling rushed into arrangements based on hasty decisions, and should you require any advice at all feel free to get in touch with us. All our advice is offered free of charge and without obligation.

Plug-In Hybrid Hearse

Being thoroughly modern pioneering funeral directors, we specialise in conducting contemporary style Celebration Of Life funerals and cremation only throughout Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire as well as further afield upon request. With the traditional black hearse regarded as the symbol of death by many people, we generally would avoid using a conventional hearse unless of course we are asked to arrange a traditional funeral service. We have now taken delivery of a new vehicle to add to our fleet which will begin work straight away as our plug-in hybrid hearse alternative.

Typically in the UK a hearse would be powered by a large V8 petrol engine or a 6-cylinder diesel, neither of which is at all fuel efficient or environmentally friendly in any way. Our own silver funeral vehicle, although avoiding the negative distressing imagery which is connected to a hearse, still uses a 5.5 litre petrol engine. With concern about one’s carbon footprint becoming increasingly common and important, we felt it was essential to be able to offer an alternative to effectively become our plug-in hybrid hearse.

Most hybrid cars are simply too small to accommodate a large coffin especially with a floral tribute on top, but there are a few suitably large vehicles which are also prestigious enough for this important role. The Volvo you see pictured stood out to us as the vehicle of choice due to it’s impressive green credentials as well as being necessarily large. There are also probably more Volvo funeral vehicles in this country than any other brand.

The Trust Funerals plug-in hybrid hearse is a Volvo XC90, the T8 Inscription Pro model, which is the most expensive car Volvo makes. Although this vehicle would be described as a large SUV, in this particular model there is a small petrol engine that powers only the front wheels. This is aided by the electric motor which helps keep the emissions extremely low for this type of vehicle and generally provides fuel economy of 50 – 100 miles per gallon. Journeys of less than 25 miles can be made with zero emissions from the car and on longer journeys, when the battery has been depleted, the petrol engine can also recharge the battery pack for instant reuse whilst driving.

Inside our XC90, the car is very luxuriously appointed. The almost-white leather interior combined with a large panoramic glass roof makes the car light and bright, enabling a better view of the coffin and any floral tribute which it proudly carries.

With the introduction of a plug-in hybrid hearse alternative vehicle we will be able to also offer environmentally aware cremation funerals as well as natural burials too. If you may be in the position of organising a funeral where environmental issues are an important consideration please don’t hesitate to give us a call and discuss your requirements. We provide our advice free of charge with no assumption or expectation of being subsequently chosen to arrange the funeral. We also take pride in our aim to give an exact quotation at the first point of contact which means the common funeral problem of exceeding the budget is avoided.

You can find out more about our modern funeral options on the Trust Funerals website where you can also read about the increasingly popular direct cremation which is also ideal for a Celebration Of Life send off.

However, for those to whom a plug-in hybrid hearse is not appropriate, we still offer our Silver Mercedes Funeral Vehicle as well as our more traditional styled funeral package.

However in this instance the main mourner specifically suggested that we may reproduce or use his remarks about us in any way. On this occasion we at Trust Funerals have decided to act on his request and send our sincere thanks for the very kind words he has written.

Dear Jill,

Thank you all again for your kind and thoughtful assistance with all the arrangements for my Dad’s funeral service, particularly at this increasingly complicated time for such eventualities.

Both yourself and Simon were the soul of thoughtful discretion throughout, and Rachel the Celebrant was not only warm, perceptive and attentive, but also bubbly in just the right proportions, making it very easy to work in close cooperation to make the event special, at a time when perhaps most of us would rather have to not deal with such necessities. So all in all, a good recommendation!

I hope the current and ongoing situation doesn’t pose too many issues for the compassionate service you strive to provide as an essential and basic necessity for the bereaved.

On a separate note, I’m happy to report that a good number of individual friends managed to view the service online this morning. But for some reason, the link is not now active & available: Can you please investigate and advise. Thank you!

Kind Regards,

Gary

PS: I must also commend you on your transparent pricing structure, and plain explanation of what it involves: A refreshing change from some other ‘high-end’ service providers, with whom it must be said, you are able to compete on equal terms

Coronavirus and Funerals

With effect from yesterday, Monday 16th March, Trust Funerals will be suspending attended funeral options for all new enquiries due to the increasing need for social distancing in the nation’s fight against the coronavirus Covid-19.

We believe that we are the first funeral director in the UK to take this step.  As an ethical funeral director we feel it is necessary to set an example of social responsibility taking all possible steps to minimise the spread of the virus and therefore potentially save lives.

We all currently face a situation which is changing significantly, even on a daily basis. Funeral directors up and down the country are booking new funerals with little prospect of those families actually receiving the funeral arrangement they’ve paid for.  This is because it is likely that within the next 2 to 3 weeks, if not in a matter of days, that attended funerals will be stopped completely – as has been the case in Italy and numerous other countries.

We call on all other funeral directors to follow our lead and to act for the good of their country rather than short term profiteering at a time of national crisis.

There are two main options in the current situation for families needing to arrange a funeral. A Traditional or Contemporary funeral service can go ahead as intended but with all family and other mourners watching live via a web link from the safety of their own homes. Alternatively we expect that many people might choose instead to arrange an unattended direct cremation straight away and defer the the gathering of people to say a farewell to their loved one until a later date after the Covid-19 problem has subsided.

We are anticipating that the UK Government will shortly be announcing new official guidance to funeral directors, although many crematoria and and celebrants have deemed it necessary to put emergency procedures in place and taken appropriate action in the meantime.
