All funeral directors operate a business which aims to be profitable but ours is a little different to the others. It was designed from the start to be run efficiently with low overheads and this enables us to pass those savings on to you. We achieved this by not having Funeral Homes in expensive town centres, reducing the number of vehicles, employing fewer staff and by simplifying the range of options available. This way means that you only pay for what you actually use rather than in effect contributing to the cost of expensive or rarely chosen options which weren’t selected.
Although you are much cheaper than other funeral directors would I still get a high quality service?
We absolutely will not make any compromises in our standard of care and service in order to cut costs. We are quite transparent about exactly how we are organised to give better value and can be completely relied on to provide a service which is second to none. Reading some reviews about us from previous clients should reassure you on the level of satisfaction you can expect from our services.
We do not charge any extra for a funeral held at the weekend and most crematoriums will accommodate it. Some of the costs which we pay on your behalf to third parties may be a little higher for a weekend funeral depending on your choices, but we would make this clear to you before any firm commitment was made.
Sometimes this can be offset by avoiding having to take time off work or use holiday in order to attend the service. It is also worth mentioning that for some people a funeral at the weekend can be invaluable if their employer would not allow them the time off work at all.
Yes it is possible for you to see your loved one in their coffin to say your final goodbyes before the cremation or funeral takes place. The location of our premises and Chapel of Rest is in Long Eaton near Derby because most people prefer to discuss the funeral arrangements in their own home and the cost of premises in central Derby would significantly increase our overheads and have a negative effect on value for money. We are more than willing to accommodate this request if required and recommend that you speak to us about it at an early stage for advice on the cost implications involved.
With both our Traditional Crematorium Funeral and our Contemporary Funeral we have chosen as standard in the package a time in the morning which offers good value but for a modest additional cost other times of the day could be chosen. The location, date and time of the service ultimately will always be your decision.
Cremation Only is a service we aim to provide as promptly as possible and at the best possible price and these considerations have necessitated that we have a favoured Crematorium which deliver on our requirements but we will be able to give you a clear indication of the day and approximate time the cremation actually occurs if requested.
We can provide professional pall bearers to carry the coffin, which can be carried in on shoulders or taken in on a wheeled Funeral Bier. Using our own bearers will incur an additional cost as we always recommend family involvement and our packages are based on this.
If there are four (or six) close family and friends who would like to do this under our guidance, it does help to further personalise the funeral service. As a general rule, any reasonably ablebodied adults would be perfectly capable of doing this. We do actively encourage families to get involved with this and our feedback to date shows that it is highly regarded and gratefully appreciated by all present.
Our premises are located in Derbyshire at Derby Road in Long Eaton because it keeps our overheads lower and helps us deliver better value for money. Nowadays it is quite common that families do not go to the funeral home at all. Often the funeral director is chosen after some online research and then arrangements are initially discussed at a home visit followed by phone calls and emails. The majority of families these days elect not to view the deceased at the Chapel of Rest either so in the end we concluded that the benefits from a Derby town centre presence would not be sufficiently utilised to justify the substantial overheads that this involves. We will always travel to you for all personal face to face contact.
Your relative or friend will be collected as soon as possible after we receive your instructions. They will then be taken directly to our Funeral Home where the appropriate facilities and staff are present to be able to ensure that he or she receives the very best care possible.
We are still usually available outside normal office hours for general enquiries although response times may be slower (please refer to our Customer Promise for details on our response times when you contact us) and we also operate a round the clock emergency call out service if a loved one has just passed away. In that case, if for any reason we don’t respond immediately, please leave a message and your call will be returned within minutes.
We specialise in cremations and modern natural burials with an environmentally conscious theme. We regret that we are unable to offer traditional burials at this time.
Our funeral vehicles are fitted with winter tyres during the cold weather period meaning it is extremely unlikely that a funeral would be cancelled.
